This Retailer’s Ads Call Out Shoppers by Name, but It’s Not Quite as Creepy as It Sounds

Cost Plus World Market gets close to its consumers in campaign.

It’s the first work from barrettSF for Cost Plus, and it includes a 40-page product catalog that’s only 2 inches tall and a fully furnished living room built on top of a Chicago bus shelter, in keeping with the tiny-home theme.

The campaign, which also includes digital and mobile, in-store displays and direct mail, will run into early September. It’s aimed at twentysomething urban dwellers moving into their first apartments and empty-nesters who are downsizing.

Muh-Tay-Zik Hof-Fer Bulks Up Its Leadership Team with 3 Key Hires

Paul Stechschulte – Creative Circus Alum (1997) – Executive Creative Director at Muh-tay-zik Hof-fer
– Currently a member of The Circus’ National Board of Advisors

San Francisco-based agency Muh-tay-zik Hof-fer has three new hires to announce today, all aimed at rounding out the agency’s leadership team.

Stechschulte joins the agency from Airbnb where he served as the brand’s creative director. During his time at Airbnb, Stechschulte spearheaded the “Accept” campaign that launched shortly after the results of the presidential election rolled in last year. He also has a strong agency background. Prior to Airbnb Stechschulte worked at Wieden + Kennedy, Arnold Amsterdam and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.

Ross Cavin – Creative Circus Copywriting Alum (2009) – Creative Director at Wolfgang L.A.

Chris Adams and Ross Cavin join the indie operation, Wolfgang. The duo have worked together for more than 8 years after meeting at Creative Circus in Atlanta.

Wolfgang, the L.A.-based creative/consultancy agency set up by several former David&Goliath executives late last year, has made its first headlining hires.

“Chris and Ross have produced some of the most provocative and culturally relevant work over the past few years,” said Wolfgang chief creative officer Colin Jeffery, who also led David&Goliath’s creative department until last November. “Their Diesel ‘Make Love. Not Walls’ campaign is a personal favorite. We’re proud to have them on board.”

Pizza Hut has tapped Kristen Wiig for its latest “Everyman” campaign from Droga5. In the two TV spots, Wiig channels the idea that Pizza Hut is a brand for everyone to enjoy by playing a host of different characters, from an older farmer to a tire-flipping, CrossFit junkie.
